Making updates to its catch-up TV technology, Channel 4 is announced plans to scrap its 4oD service and replace it with a new initiative, called All 4.

The new hub will be more all-encompassing, as it will incorporate the catch-up TV function of 4oD, while also allowing users to live stream Channel 4 shows.

Channel 4’s chief executive David Abraham, said the launch of All 4 will “deliver the most advanced broadcaster response to changing viewer behaviour in the digital age”.

He added that the development “will help ensure that our content portfolio remains an important, valued part of viewers’ TV consumption for decades to come.”

Once live, All 4 will allow users to watch previously screened TV shows as well as stream live programmes. It will also have a section dedicated to shows that are coming soon, showcase new programme clips and promos, and allow viewers to set reminders and alerts.
